6 ways to get your online store ready for the peak season

23.8.2026

Based on our statistics, e-commerce volumes increase significantly as autumn approaches. The first major peak is the E-Monday (14.09) week, making now the right time to prepare your online store for the busy season. Here are six areas worth reviewing before demand starts growing.

1. Let us collect your parcels and avoid a potential bottleneck

During the peak season, parcel volumes can increase rapidly, leaving online store owners without enough time to take orders to parcel lockers themselves. To avoid this bottleneck, we recommend using a collection service. This means we collect parcels directly from you and deliver them quickly to your customers - in Estonia most cases, as early as the next day.

If you need regular collections, we can agree on a schedule that suits your business. If you already have collection times in place, now is a good time to review whether they still meet your needs for the coming season.

2. Do you have automated data exchange with SmartPosti?

Integrations via APIs and plugins help automate your online store, save time, and improve the customer experience. With API integrations, you can add delivery options, parcel locker selection, shipment tracking, and more directly to your store.

3. Adding courier delivery can help attract more customers

Online shoppers appreciate having different delivery options available so they can choose the most suitable one for each situation.

While parcel lockers remain the most popular delivery method in Estonia, many customers also prefer courier delivery depending on their location and the products they order. By offering both options in your checkout, you can appeal to a wider range of customers.

4. Outsourcing warehousing gives you greater flexibility

If your current warehouse may become too small during the peak season, or if managing daily logistics is taking too much time, it may be worth considering SmartPosti’s warehousing and e-fulfilment service.

This allows you to focus on growing sales while we take care of inventory management, order picking, packing, and shipping.

Our pricing is based on actual working hours and the warehouse space used, meaning costs scale according to your needs during both peak and quieter periods.

5. Have you offered delivery promotions to your customers?

If your campaigns focus only on product discounts, we recommend testing delivery-based promotions as well.

For example, instead of offering a larger discount on products, you could offer free or highly discounted delivery. Based on our parcel volume data, this approach can be highly effective for certain online stores.

6. Check that your delivery options are displayed correctly

Your customers’ shopping experience is smoother when all delivery options are presented clearly and consistently at checkout.

Make sure the SmartPosti brand name is written correctly (with a capital P and ending with i) both in the shopping cart and in delivery terms.

Where possible, we also recommend adding the SmartPosti logo to the checkout page.

Please note: if your online store also ships to Finland, use the Posti name and logo in the Finnish checkout, as we operate in Finland under the Posti brand.
